Did you know that over 1 in 10 people in the Blue Ridge region don't know where they will get their next meal? Or that thousands of people in your community make tough choices everyday between eating and paying for life's basic needs, such as shelter, medicine and fuel for their cars?
In 2010, Capital Meats has provided the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (a member of Feeding America Organization)with $4,800 worth of steak, chicken, and pok to help stamp out hunger in Virginia.
Founded in 1981, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is the largest organization alleviating hunger in western and central Virginia. In all, we serve 25 counties and 9 cities on either side of the Blue Ridge through distribution centers in Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Winchester and Verona. They provide nutritious food to 145,600 different people each year through a far-reaching network of food pantries, soup kitchens, schools, churches and nonprofit groups.
Capital Meats has 11 office locations located in 4 different states along the East Coast that include Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina. Giving back is important to Capital Meats because we live and work in these same communities and we are invested in making sure they continue to thrive.
